Question: When you are making comics... how do you know what size of the layout is? Lets say i want to make a 4 frame sfm comic and i want to know the size of the comic, whats your best tip?

1: decide the layout. (Let's make a 2 wide x 4 high for this example)
2: Then you calculate this (Frames width x 2, and frames height x 4 and then add a additional 500 pixels to each end so you have some space)
3: Add frames

But for you it will probably be better with a standing layout which is "Width of the picture" then it's "Height of the frame x amount of frames + 500"

This shouldn't be hard.

Check your file type. You can only upload PNG, JPEG (And a few others)
Cuz If you save as default on Paint.Net you will get a "PDN" file. And that can only be read in Paint.Net

You don't have to "Pre-draw" the layout before you add the pictures.
You just places the pictures in to the comic as the Layout you want to have.

The layout is something that you create yourself.

As you can see in the second frame do you have "3 ways to place the pictures"
As a Standing, Laying or classic comic layout.

A "layout" is the order you places the pictures in.
Look at frame 2-5 above to see which layout you want to use.
When you have chosen your layout you might wanna make a blank page that can fit all the pictures.
For example you wanna have a 2x3 type and have 6 frames.
If each picture is 600x300 pixels in size you want to make at least a 2000x1500 pixels large.

You might wanna use Some "layers" if your software supports that.
Then you make an new layer and then you places the pictures on the blank layer.
And then you add text on a separate layer.

Something that i forgot?

Before you add pictures.
do like this
If new picture --> file > new > "set sizes".
If changing --> image > resize > "set image size".
If changing the canvas but not scale up already existing pictures --> image > canvas size > "Set size" (But remember to set the "anchor" so the image scales correctly)

It depends on three things.
1: comic type
2: amount of pictures.
3: Size of the pictures.

Let's say. You are going to make the "classical" comic layout.
And let's say that the pictures are "1920x1080" (standard sfm) and you have 10 frames.

First you need about 4000 pixels wide to fit two rows of images, Don't worry about empty spaces. You can remove them afterwards with a simple cut.
And the height needs to be 1080 x 5 which is 5400 pixels high. But round that to around 5600-6000 so you have some space to play on.

Depending on what software you are using, Look up how to "Crop images" for your software.
Just a note that It's simple to make comics.

And the image size is ALL depending on following
- Comic layout.
- numbers of pictures.
- Frame sizes.

There is no comic layout.

You have to make it yourself.

First. Add layers so you have one background layer that is black grey or whatever.
then you add an layer where you adds the pictures and then an last one where you add the text.

Let's say. You make an background layer that will fit all the pictures.
Then you add the pictures on an second layer and then you are moving the pictures in to place and then you add text. Done
